My
name is Hannah Durham. I am a Media and Communication graduate from Birmingham
City University. I am passionate about working in the live music industry and
have been involved with numerous roles of production and management which would
specifically benefit me in this role. I am a dedicated, hardworking, determined
and reliable individual who learns quickly, takes on tasks with enthusiasm and
works well independently and as part of a team.
Employment and Experience (Music)
Bon Jovi Management – Bon Jovi Tour Management Intern (2013)
- Role carried out at Bon Jovi’s live show at Cardiff City Stadium (June 12th 2013).
- Role involved working with the Management team to set up, organise and manage the VIP party room during the day of the live show, assisting the fans and support artists, and liaising with venue staff to organise the fans between the party room and stadium.
Birmingham City Council (Culture
Commissioning) - Assistant Music Coordinator (2013)
- Coordinating research and activity that supports the development and growth of the independent and commercial music sector across Birmingham.
- Role includes: extensive research, organising information and creating databases using excel, and organising progression of research and activity with the head Music Coordinator.
Sundae Promotions – Project Manager & Head of Public Relations (2013)
- Creative Live Events Project Management Team set up by myself and my team partner to work with creative local communities and challenge the perception of unsigned music.
- My role includes: managing project team and activities, organising business documents, booking venues for events, communicating with clients and promoting the events.
- I secured project funding from O2 for Sundae Promotions.
- As a small team of only two, there is much responsibility and a large workload to manage. I have learnt about managing a project over a period of time alongside my university studies and developed skills in organising live events in a competitive market.
Swingamajig Festival – Event
Management and Artist Liaison
(2013)
- Role included working on the front of house, chaperoning and organising artists, managing the backstage area and event security.
- This was a hands-on role that I adapted to quickly as I wasn’t monitored therefore I used my initiative to ensure the artists were happy and contributed to the event running effectively.
- A successful internship in 2011 became a paid role in 2012.
- I contributed to running the festival (2011) as my roles included; artists management, administration, on-site work and communication with the backstage team. My duties were chaperoning the bands, managing artist reception, monitoring signing events, working backstage, preparing green room/dressing rooms and recycling at the festival.
- In 2011 I promoted the event (with flyers, posters and through social media).
- I set up and ran the Merthyr Rock fan blog in 2011 and 2012. This involved interviewing headline act, Kids in Glass Houses, for an online exclusive, promotion, communicating with fans, answering queries and posting event images and stories.
- The experience developed my confidence and professional skills as I worked in a fast- paced environment with a variety of people in unfamiliar situations. I used my initiative, communicated effectively and contributed to a team effort to run the event successfully.
- In 2012 I represented Merthyr Rock at a pre-festival workshop through organising the event on the day, ensuring the speakers had all their materials, recording information of the attendees and greeting the sponsors.
Hypnotic Records - CEO & Coordinator of Public Relations (2010-11)
- A label set up to sign bands and primarily promote a live showcase event.
- My role involved organising the label, assigning roles, aims and objectives. I located artists, secured the venue and drew up schedules, business plans and contracts.
- The role developed my communication, teamwork and leaderships skills and additionally portrayed my personal determination to succeed through a stressful and new situation.
Multiculturalism
Event– Organiser & Business Coordinator (2011)
- Event in Birmingham showcasing ‘multiculturalism’ through a variety of media.
- My team hosted Music Workshops to educate about music from various cultures.
- As Organiser & Business Coordinator my role involved organising the event, producing contingency plans, locating contacts and managing team members/artists.
Current
I
have just finished my final year of studying for a BA Media and Communication
degree at Birmingham City University. My studies specialised in the music
industry, public relations, journalism and photography. This variety of studies
in the field enables me to contribute to the fullest in a range of ways. I have
developed skills in team working and organisation, creativity and presentation,
analysis of contemporary media and society and high-level written and
communicational skills. At A Level, I achieved 2 A grades in History and English,
and a C in German.
Personal
I
am interested in media as a consumer as well as academically. I have a range of
personal interests and hobbies including; watching films, reading classics and contemporary
works. I am also particularly passionate about photography and music. I love to
spend my free time involved with the aforementioned, alongside attending
concerts, blogging, travelling, cooking and socialising.
I
am a reliable, punctual, consistent and hardworking individual. I am confident
that I can utilise my skills to contribute effectively to the role. I would take on all work enthusiastically as
the role will offer invaluable experiences to develop my professional skills. I
hope to be given the opportunity to display my great work ethic.
